Here's the thing...

I am so html inept. It truly makes my head hurt. In fact, whenever I want to link to something in someones comments, I can never remember how to do it, and have to go back to my blog template, open a blank post, link the word I want, copy the html language from the edit screen, and paste it into a comment. Yeah. I really do. [stop cringing!]

Have I lost you yet??? Its okay ... I lost myself a long, LONG time ago. Heck ... I can't even get my wireless thing to work... what is that thinggie ... a router???

Anyway -- here's the thing... I own my own fancy, schmancy domain. Yup! I really do! I've owned it for quite a while now. And I would love to have my blog on it... after all ... what could be easier and nicer than kissesofsunshine.com ??? But nooooo. My domain is just hanging out there... getting lonely.

I simply haven't a clue as to what to do.

I'm willing to go over to WordPress. Scared about it, but willing.

I'm willing to learn html stuff. Scared about it, but willing.

I'm willing to blog without my precious and easy blogger account. Willing, but ever so scared!

So, having said that ... does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do? That is ... other than "read a book and learn" ... 'cause I just don't learn like that. Sad, but true. And people ... I have to keep my bible and devotional in the bathroom just to read it during a moment of peace, if you know what I mean! I KNOW I won't be able to read a whole entire book about html stuff without falling asleep. Or having a numb hiney. Which ever comes first. I truly live a pampered and glamorous life ... I don't care WHAT anyone else tells you.

I guess what I need is something like Bluebird Blogs ... a life saver ... a professional ... a reasonably priced package that will be user-friendly, pretty, and not break me financially, or kill me in the process of learning it! Maybe I should email Susie and beg! I know it's not pretty, but a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do!

Any tips? Any? Any? 'Cause, I'm all ears!

I used Heather and Laura over at swankwebstyle.com to do my move/domain to WordPress. I'm loving it now and it was really cost friendly :)

Let me know if I can help once you get to WP!

Going to Susie is an excellent idea, GiBee. She can do it for you and you can afford her.

And I suspect you're going to get lots of offers of help from your friends out here who've already done this. They're nice like that.

Hey! I found this article:

http://help.blogger.com/bin/answer.py?answer=55373

It gives the basics of getting your domain mapped in Blogger. You can let me know if you need help with it. I think I can do it.

I so wish I knew more HTML and you'd think I'd have learned something by now...but nope...still illiterate!

I have no assistance to offer. I'm as HTML illiterate as you are. Just want to encourage you and wish you well on your big move.

How exciting, your own domain!! I have had the same issues as you have. Please, share once you get it all figured out. I am looking forward to seeing your new domain!

I added your blog to my thursday thirteen this morning. (13 of my favorite blogs.) I hope you don't mind.

I stumbled across your site not too long ago and thought it was time I finally commented! My husband is a software guy and has put together our site so if it wasn't for him, I wouldn't have a clue. I asked him what would be the easiest thing for you to do. He suggested the same link to http://help.blogger.com/bin/answer.py?answer=55373
as "chilihead." This is probably the least complicated route do go if your main goal is just to have your own domain name. If you want to go take a different route, it might be easiest just to find a tech guy/gal in your church, at work, etc. to set it up for you. Blessings!

I'm an html dummy also and frankly, your tip about writing the link and pasting just made me very happy, as I've been scratching my head over how to do that.

If there's a way to keep your blog where it is but change the domain name I'd do that. I changed platforms (Typepad which is moveable type to WordPress) and it's been a steep learning curve for me. Good luck!!

I used to be in the same situation--an html wanna be. I took an online class to learn HTML - a 6-week program that releases two lessons a week. It takes about 30 minutes to read the lesson, then you practice as you have time. If interested, check out ed2go.com.

Lisa at blogsabout.com is finishing WordPress for Dummies. If you host your blog with BlogsAbout, they will install WP for you. They are WP experts!

Good luck as you decide what to do next.
