A Bit of House Cleaning...

Man, oh, man this post is hard to type... but, I've just had to sit down and do it.

I loved having my list of favorite blogs off in my sidebar for any and all of you to visit... but I have a tender spirit, and if I noticed that the link-love wasn't reciprocated, my feelings would get hurt, and I'd begin to wonder what I did wrong to upset that person enough to take me off their list... or not put me on at all. Especially when I felt like we had really built a good friendship. It left me feeling like the last kid on the playground to get picked to play dodge ball. And I hate that feeling.

So -- in order to avoid that whole ugly, snot-flying-red-faced "cryie" incident, I've decided to remove my list of favorites from the face of my blog. Why? Because I know how much it hurts not to be included, and I don't want anyone else to feel like that each and every time they come to my blog.

As a courtesy to all my friends that I've had listed in my blogroll for close to three years, I've added a "Quick-Click" Link for this post which will serve as my blogroll, and the blogs that were on my blogroll up through today will be included (see list below).

If you don't see your blog listed here, please accept my apologies. It isn't because I don't care, or I don't love you -- I promise!

BIG sigh.

I did the same thing ages ago, GiBee. For me, it was impossible to keep a blogroll current. I'm constantly falling in and out of love out here, and it changes.

Mostly, I didn't want to hurt feelings by forgetting to put someone on the list. I've always used Bloglines to keep up with the blogs I follow.

I have several blogrolls in my sidebar, like the Family Friendly Network and the CWO blogroll and I'm pretty sure everyone I read is on one or all of those blogrolls.

To me, this is a smart thing to do. And you know what? I'm always in such a hurry trying to keep up with everyone, I never have time to check out people's personal blogrolls in their sidebars anyway. I'm a lot more likely to discover and like a new blogger because I saw her mentioned and linked in a post.

Smart move.

Came to the same realization myself at the beginning of the summer, though I didn't write such a sweet post letting anyone know. I just took it all off . . . no quick link or nothin'. I still love all my bloggy friends, but I got tired of keeping up with who was or wasn't on my list at any given time.

I now keep folks in my Google Reader and add and subtract without hurting anyone's feelings.

Thanks for your comment today and for the link for wheat-free recipes. I truly, truly appreciate that, friend!

I've gone through this struggle so many times. I think you've done it in a very nice way! I rarely look at people's blogroll lists. I usually find new people by their comment on someone else's post. And then I just link over to check them out from there.

Oh Gibee, I know it's hard, but I had to do the same thing. I just moved all my favorite blogs to bloglines and removed the actual list on the sidebar. It has to be done.

I always find new blogs through comments, I hardly ever look at someone's sidebar :)

Hugs,
Sandra

I think that hits most bloggers sooner or later. I quit looking at blogrolls early on. Good for you for straightening up your place! You can come to my house next...

My roll is a mess. Hope you're doing well.

Maybe when school starts I can clean mine up!
