Where's My Left Shoe, Mommy?

So, I had planned on taking Thurs and Fri off this week... TO CLEAN MY HOUSE and try to organize one or two things... but Hunter spiked a fever yesterday and today, and since I value my son's health much more than the state of my house... the house will have to wait. AGAIN.

So, this morning, Hunter, who, by the way--is bored out of his mind while running a low grade fever now, is walking around with his left shoe on his right foot, asking where his left shoe is (meaning his right shoe, but he's confused).

I am, in fact, quite impressed that he is cognizant of the fact that his left FOOT is missing a shoe, even though the left shoe is on the right foot (and I don't mean the correct foot, either). So, I'm trying to direct him to his right shoe so he can put it on his left foot, and I'm pointing to exactly where it is, and yet, he's looking up in the sky, behind him, to the opposite direction ... oiy.

I can quickly see that if I were a stay-at-home momma, I would be bald.

And then it dawned on me... How many times do I ask the Lord where "my left shoe is," while it is on my right foot, and he points to exactly where it is, and I proceed to go in total opposite directions than where the Lord is sending me??? Of course, this is all figuratively speaking...

I wonder if Jesus is bald. Ehem...

Anyway, while all this brings up a great basis for discussion... I must now go. Because I have a sick son. Who is crawling all over me and wants to be comforted. And mommy being on the computer is NOT comforting to him. So, discuss away in the comments section, if you so desire!!

I am the very reason Jesus would be bald, of that I am sure.

I spin around like a hamster on a wheel quite frequently, getting all out of breath yet making no tangible progress.

Thanks for the word picture via Hunter. Yes, he is an excellent object lesson, even at the tender age of almost three.

Praying he feels better soon, that your house does NOT crawl up around you, that you do keep some of that lovely hair intact (at least the part everyone sees . . . don't worry about that big hole in the back . . . ), and that you will remember not to twirl around looking for your left shoe when our dear Heavenly Father is holding it right out in front of you.

He is not a Father of confusion. He wants to make finding His way simple, and yet we are always looking around instead of up. May this be the nudge we need to focus on Him and Him alone.

Thanks for a great post, sweet friend.

Oh, I'm sorry your son is sick! I hope you get some great snuggle time with him. Love the analogy you gave. For the record.... Jesus would be TOTALLY bald due to me! :)

That would be a sight to see. I'm sure now-a-days Jesus would've been bald, since now a full-head of wavy, shoulder length hair is quite attractive :) and since he had nothing that would attract us to Him in his appearance. . .

Been praying for you!

Once in awhile you read something that you just know will stick with you, "I wonder if Jesus is bald" is just that! Cracked me up!

Hey Gibee... you asked to see pictures of the quilt I got. Sorry it took so long to get them up but they are up now if you'd like to see them! :) Hope you are having a most fabulous day today and that your son is feeling much better! Jami
