Thursday Thanks Tank

Pam at Without Fear hosts Thursday Thanks Tank, and trust me when I say -- there is no better way to improve one's outlook on life then to take a look at a list of what you're thankful for!

This has been a long week. Very long. Very exhausting. Very active child. Very old momma. Shewww--wiiiie ... is it over yet? I really need to focus on what I'm thankful for, because I am feeling blah... so I'm choosing share why I'm thankful for Wednesday evenings.

I love Wednesday nights for many reasons. One being that I'm usually wiped out, and don't feel like cooking meals or washing dishes. My husband, who wakes up at the un-lovely hour of 4:15 in the morning is also wiped out for sure, and it's so nice to just get in the car, and show up to church for Dinner for a Dollar and Bible Study. It's cooked for us, and cleaned up for us. And to top it off, nursery is provided for all the children so the parents can attend Bible Study, which in itself is a major undertaking because the ages range so broadly, and many a night is chaotic and loud, and messy. I know the nursery workers are exhausted by the end of the evening, and the room looks like a bomb went off in it!!

Believe me when I say ... It is a true, TRUE ministry for our small family, and it is appreciated beyond words. Especially on nights like last night when we're all fanny-dragging-brain-dead-mush-can't-lift-another-finger-dead-tired.

Another reason I love Wednesday nights, is because we get to spend time breaking bread and socializing with people. It's a beautiful time of fellowship with people of all ages and walks of life. It truly is wonderful start to an evening of "Acts 2:42-47" in action.

The biggest reason I love Wednesday nights, is because our Pastorman is teaching through the Bible. I love that he gets up there, opens the Bible, and teaches straight out of it. Yes, of course he prepares, but it's not a video series, it's not a book we're following ... it's the Bible. God's Word. Plain and simple. LOVE IT. It refreshes even the most exhausted and gets you ready for Thursday through Saturday night. Last night we studied about the early ministry of Elijah in 1 Kings 17, and I left feeling so motivated to trust in God to provide for me and take care of me. Even when my cupboards are bare, the checkbook is drained, and the list of financial responsibilities is long, he is a good God and provides for us! He loves us so much!

So there you have it. I'm thankful for Wednesday nights.

What are you thankful for this week?

Hey another thing we have in common. Early rising hubbies. I don't know how they do it. But mine too is dead on his feet by 7:30 in the evening.

Dinner for a Dollar and children's ministry and bible study. What a great idea. I would have loved that when my kids were small.

We love Wednesday nights at church too. With the holidays everything was put off but now we are back in the groove of it. I'm in a bible study and so are the kids and Scott teaches the 5th grade boys so we all have somewhere to be that night. We havent eaten there in awhile as Miller is hard to deal with....but this will pass and he will grow out of it. Our pastor is really laid back on Wednesday nights....I enjoy it so.
